Sophie & Geoff’s Bridgford Hall Wedding Nottingham 19/08/2017
Here’s the highlights from Sophie & Geoff’s Bridgford Hall and home wedding in Nottingham. With a rustic woodland theme, lots of home made decorations and flowers.
The day started with the Chinese games, where the Groom & ushers have to take on a series of tasks given by the bridesmaids to show their worth and for Geoff to win over his bride. The games included Banana golf, making a wedding dress from tissue paper, eating challenges and blind drawing. It’s safe to say Geoff and the boys did a sterling job and succeeded in their mission to win over the bride!
Following a lovely ceremony at Bridford Hall we went down to the Embankment for a few bride & groom shots on Wilford suspension bridge. From there it was on to the garden party for food and cakes all done by Geoff & Sophie.
One of the highlights for me was capturing the Chinese tea ceremony. Geoff & Sophie would serve traditional Chinese tea to their family & friends and in return receive a gift (usually gold!) a monetary gift in an envelope and some words of wisdom for their future together.
Information & advice from the newly-weds.
How long have you been together: 6 years this month.
Any stories or tales from the proposal: We were driving around Cyprus on holiday and as the sun was setting we parked up, got out and climbed to the top of Petra tou Romiou (also known as Aphrodite’s Rock.) We wanted to get some photos of us at the top. As Geoff set his timer on his phone to take a photo, he ran towards me to get down on one knee and proposed just as the phone was taking the pictures. With the sun setting behind us, it was perfect.
Reasons for choosing your venue: Granny Nan’s home has always been special to us for many reasons, and my mum Kirsty named me (Sophie) whilst walking in Wollaton Park just behind Granny Nan’s home.
Colour scheme/theme/style: Home wedding with a rustic woodland theme with lots of flowers and wooden furniture.
Any special thoughts/memories from the day: The day went so fast and we enjoyed every moment of it. Our favourite memories are probably the ceremony at Bridgford Hall, grooms-men pre-wedding games, the emotional speeches, the traditional Chinese tea ceremony and the live band. Also seeing our Dog-of-honour, Finn trying to eat peoples sandwiches!
Any advice for couples planning a wedding: We had a DIY wedding and although it was a lot of hard work, it was totally worth it. Our friends loved our home-made decorations as we decorated and created everything ourselves. Because of this, we had to be very organised in the months leading up to the big day. We used a Google Spreadsheet that was shared online amongst the best man, maid-of-honour, groomsmen, bridesmaids and wedding organiser. Our final advice would be to get creative and look for inspiration/ideas everywhere from Pinterest to wedding websites.
