Shottle Hall Wedding Photography | Mr & Mrs Ratcliffe

I’m pleased to share the highlights from an awesome Shottle Hall Wedding with Scott and Leigh (now Mr & Mrs Ratcliffe) They tied the knot on April 20th, a perfect day for a wedding, with no clouds in the sky and temperatures in the mid 20’s. (only 20 days after we had a load of snow) Anyhow less about the weather!

Whilst Scott was getting ready with the lads at Shottle Hall Leigh was getting ready at her parents house in Eastwood before heading to the venue in a Rolls Royce. The wedding comprised of lilac & white tones and alongside the stunning venue the whole wedding was filled with style and sophistication.

As the sun began to set we spent a little time with the newly-weds to capture some warm sunset shots. Nothing beats a perfect setting with a low sun, daffodils and a couple in love, its a recipe for success! Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Ratcliffe. Here’s some of my favourites from the day and some info from the couple.

Information & advice from the newly-weds.

How long have you been together/Any stories about how you met?

We have been together for 3 and a half years. We met in the Lady Chatterley Eastwood. Leigh had just returned home from working overseas and was on a night out with friends who I also knew… and as they say – the rest is history.

Any stories or tales from the proposal?

Leigh: Scott proposed to me on my birthday, before we went to Liverpool on a weekend away. Scott: My plan was to make Leigh breakfast in bed and put the ring on the tray. But this went out the window as the week before I had an accident on my bike and fractured my elbow. Which meant carrying a tray with one hand was pretty difficult. so, the standard getting down on one knee it was. And even that was a challenge!

Reasons for choosing your venue?

Shottle Hall was the first and last venue we looked at as we fell in love with it straight away. From the scenery, to the whole estate, everything was perfect. A Shottle Hall Wedding it was!

Colour scheme/theme/style:

Lilac + Whites. We wanted it simple but with a bit of glamour and I think we pulled that off.

Any special thoughts/memories from the day?

Leigh: My special memory was seeing Scott at the end of the aisle, not being able to look back as he was crying so much and everyone laughing when he said his vows to quickly and the registrar had to stop. Scott: Mine was when the music started and I saw our page boy walking towards me with a sign saying Uncle Scott here comes your girl. Closely followed by Leigh walking down the aisle in her beautiful dress. Which I didn’t really get to see as I was a blubbering mess for most of the ceremony.

Both: The whole day was amazing we couldn’t have wished for better weather or better guests to share our special day with. Everything was just perfect.

Any advice for couples planning a wedding?

You can’t please everyone so plan your day the way you want it. Enjoy every moment as it will go so fast. Try and take a few moments to yourselves as you probably won’t see each other much during the night as you are mingling with your guests.

We loved Matt’s work from our first look at his website, his use of light is beautiful. On the day, Matt and Christian were great and put everyone at ease. Everyone commented how friendly they were, and they had a discrete presence throughout the day, capturing candid moments.

The photos are breath-taking, and we cannot wait to get the album. There is not much more to say, Matt was great, and we cannot recommend him highly enough!
