Lisa & Karl’s Wedding at Morley Hayes 15/10/2016
Here’s a small collection of photographs from a lovely Autumn wedding at Morley Hayes in Derby & St Luke Church in Loscoe. Lisa & Karl were an awesome couple to work with on the day from bridal preparations in the morning to standing in the cold in the evening for a shot I promised would be worth it (and it was!)
If you’re planning a wedding at Morley Hayes or any other venue, Lisa & Karl share some valuable information for couples planning a wedding and the reasons why they chose their wedding at Morley Hayes.
How long have you been together: 6 years
Any stories or tales from the proposal: Lisa’s family thought that Karl would propose on a family holiday in October 2015 on Lisa’s birthday. As a result, they were all disappointed when this never happened! Karl is not one to be predictable and we found that good things come in three’s. The run up to Christmas 2015 Lisa entered a dance competition and won. A few days later she secured a new job and then Karl proposed on the evening out of the blue. This was certainly a roller coaster week!
Reasons for choosing your venue: First of all St Luke’s church is where all the grooms family have been married. Morley Hayes has good grounds for photographs. They have good reviews from everyone that you speak to a very high class service and attention to detail. We loved the superb hotel on site with spacious luxury suites available allowing room for bridal party to get ready together. Nothing was too much hassle for the team at Morley Hayes.
Colour scheme/theme/style: Dusky pink, silver and white. Modern elegant style.
Any special thoughts/memories from the day: We loved our VW Split-screen camper van! This allowed room for the big dress and photo opportunities. It also gave us space to talk and enjoy our first moments of marriage between the church and Morley Hayes. We enjoyed being surrounded by all of our family and friends who were able to be such a special part of our day.
Lisa & Karl’s advice for planning a wedding
Enjoy the build up as much as you can (as everything goes so fast on the day) and take in as much as you can! Take moments in the day to step back as a couple and enjoy some time together also.
Advice for the brides – Once you arrive at the church or ceremony take a deep breath to compose yourself and then just enjoy your day from that moment on as all of the stress is over.
We set up a spreadsheet with all of our supplier details during the planning phase. This allowed us to have all contact details, records of payments and also payment deadlines all in one place to refer to. If you enjoy crafting then it is nice to make a few of your own things for the wedding. We made our own centerpieces, hangover kits, favours, sweet jars and his & hers quiz cards. This puts a personal touch on the day and helps to cut back on costs.
We also found it really beneficial to have a pre-wed/engagement shoot with our photographer. It enabled us to build up a relationship before the big day and get used to being photographed. Feeling comfortable with our photographer really put us at ease on the day.
