Jo & Andy’s Stylish Wedding at The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel

Here’s the highlights from Jo & Andy’s awesome Wedding at The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel in Southwell. After speaking with Jo & Andy about their Wedding at The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel I knew it was going to yield some great photographs!

Jo & Andy chose The Old Vicarage for its warmth and contemporary style. They knew it would be the perfect setting for their big day and they food and staff get very high praise! With autumnal deep purple, pink and silver colours and harpist playing throughout the ceremony a lot of thought had gone into making this day very special, and a dry sunny top was the cherry on top of the cake!

It’s been over 4 years since I last captured a wedding at The Old Vicarage. Much has changed since then in my style and how I see a venue for portraits (and details) so I was really looking forward to seeing what could be captured. Some of the things which caught my eye were; A great fireplace (perfect for the ring shot!) The way the light falls through the Venetian blinds (see jewellery shots.) How fascinating smoke dances from an incense stick. Andy’s Audi R8! Bevels on bedroom mirrors (Great for groom shots.)

Information & advice from the newly-weds

How long have you been together/Any stories about how you met?

Four and a half years we’ve been together and we met on match.com. Andy was my first and last internet date!
We met for drinks on our first date and didn’t stop talking all night. We went from bar to bar until there was no where else open and ended up in McDonald’s at 3am in the morning.

Any stories or tales from the proposal?

It was Christmas Day 2017 and after opening presents with Andy’s kids he called me into the lounge and told me there was one more gift from me.

He reached around to the back of the tree and took a gold sparkly bauble from the tree. As he opened the bauble I could see a diamond peeping out of the artificial snow. He got down on one knee and said the magic words “Will you marry me”

Reasons for choosing your venue?

The Old Vicarage was always our first choice. It’s style and warmth very much reflects our character.

It was just the right size for the number of guests we had and felt like it was our home for the day. The staff are amazing, helping us to create the special day we wanted. The food is second to none.

Colour scheme/theme/style:

With our wedding day being in autumn we chose deep purples with the addition of pale pink and silvers.
Me and Andy wanted to keep things simple yet stylish. We had a harpist play for the ceremony and throughout the wedding breakfast. We added small touches such as handkerchief’s for the ladies and blankets for the evening should any of our guest wish to take some air.

Any special thoughts/memories from the day?

From the moment we met at the ceremony table until the last dance we had the most amazing day.

We were very lucky with the weather and the sun shone to make it the perfect autumnal day. To be able to have all of our family friends together to share our special day made it all the more amazing.

Any advice for couples planning a wedding?

Remember it’s about the two of you starting out on the next chapter of your life together. Don’t get caught up in the drama of what everyone else wants, it’s about the two of you.
