Summer Holmewood Hall Wedding | Jenny & Chris
This was my first time capturing a Holmewood Hall Wedding, and it certainly won’t be my last. The grandeur of the venue, combined with its elegant surroundings, created the perfect atmosphere for a day filled with love and celebration. From start to finish, the team at Holmewood Hall, especially Lee, ensured everything ran seamlessly, making this Holmewood Hall Wedding a joy to photograph.
The day began in the stunning bridal suites at Holmewood Hall, where the bride and her bridal party enjoyed a relaxed and elegant morning. The excitement built as the time for the outdoor ceremony approached, and we were blessed with warm sunshine—a perfect setting for a beautiful outdoor Holmewood Hall Wedding ceremony.
One of the most memorable parts of the day was the energetic Ceilidh dance. This traditional dance was a hit with all the guests, who had an amazing time celebrating the brides heritage.
As the day progressed, we were treated to an unforgettable sunset, ideal for capturing the perfect couple portraits. The romantic golden light at Holmewood Hall provided a stunning backdrop that made these moments feel magical.
The first dance was another standout moment, with guests gathered on the grand staircase to shower the couple with confetti as they danced. To top it all off, the night ended with a spectacular firework display, lighting up the sky and providing a fitting finale to an incredible day. After such a remarkable experience, I’m looking forward to future opportunities to capture more unforgettable moments at this stunning venue.
Information & advice from the newly-weds
Any stories or tales from the proposal?
We’ve been together for 7 years, we met while studying at Stirling University. We got engaged in Phuket, we had a wonderful Airbnb with a private pool overlooking the beach, it was twilight and very romantic. Chris suggested I went for an afternoon sleep, little did I know he was creating the set up on the roof terrace.
Reasons for choosing your venue?
We fell in love with Holmewood Hall instantly, its beautiful architecture, wonderful grounds and the exclusivity. Also we were really keen to have as much of the day outside as possible, including the ceremony and ceilidh and HH is set up for this perfectly.
Colour/Style:
We wanted to go for a summery colour scheme that wouldn’t take away from the beauty of the house.
Our colour scheme was blush pink, sage and gold. We had a few themes weaved into our day to make it more personalised. We had a piper and Ceilidh to have a touch of Scotland. Then we had a few nodes to our love for travel, all our table names were named after places we have travelled to. Finally, we couldn’t not include our lovely dog Milo! We had a big cheesy picture of him as our welcome sign and also had a little figure of him munching on the wedding cake.
Any special thoughts/memories from the day?
We have so many lovely memories from the day, from getting ready in the morning, meeting at the alter, saying our vows, having pictures taken with our dog Milo, laughing loudly at the speeches, getting everyone involved in our first dance, ceilidh dancing and all the small interactions with loved ones during the day. It really does fly by!
Taking off Milo’s lead for a photo and him immediately running away from us and into the house and being found inches away from the wedding cake was amusing for everyone. Also Chris having his sock cut off during the evening celebrations, which is apparently a Danish tradition, prompted by his Danish cousins, that means he will never be with another woman…
Any advice for couples planning a wedding?
It is your day, so make it personal to you, don’t get to hung up on everything have to be “themed” include as many of your interests as you want, we think it makes it more interesting for guests.
Keep a notebook from the beginning with notes from the venue, suppliers and the all important spreadsheet to keep track of payments. Most importantly, enjoy it. It’s so lovely getting to plan a day where you are bringing together all your loved ones, remember they are there to celebrate you and likely won’t notice all the finer details. As long as there is food, wine and some fun that’s what’s most important!
