Gemma & Mike’s Colwick Hall Wedding – 06/08/2017
I do love a Colwick Hall Wedding! So It was great to be back at this stunning venue to capture the marriage of the lovely Gemma & Mike. The day started with bridal prep in the awesome bridal suit at Colwick Hall. Whilst Christian (The second photographer) captured the groom prep’. Following a lovely ceremony Gemma & Mike were now Mr & Mrs Drew and the wedding party tucked into the mouthwatering canapés on the lawn. The day included some great speeches. A nice batch of formal family & couple shots on the grande staircase and a lively evening with a busy dancefloor! We ended the day on a high with some bride & groom shots in and around the Byron Brasserie. All in all a fabolous wedding to capture and some lovely memories for Mr & Mrs Drew! Congratulations 🙂
Information & advice from the newly-weds.
How long have we been together – over 6 years
Any stories or tales from the proposal – For our 5-year anniversary we went to Manchester to watch Adele in concert then continuing to the Lake District for a few days. Whilst in the hotel in Manchester, Mike pretended to hurt his back whilst moving a table and asked me to help him stand up. As I approached he presented me with my engagement ring and asked me to be his wife. It was very personal and private, just the way that we wanted. We then celebrated our engagement at the concert and in the Lake District.
Reasons for choosing your venue – We had in mind what we wanted. A modern yet traditional looking venue which could host both the ceremony and reception. Also a venue which had rooms for us and guests to stay in. We looked online at various venues around Nottinghamshire but we fell in love with Colwick Hall. It was the only venue we visited, as we both knew that it was the perfect place from the very first visit. A Colwick Hall Wedding it was!
Colour scheme/Theme/Style – Aubergine/Grape. Mixture of traditional & modern.
Any special thoughts/memories from the day – Everything and everyone came together to give us our perfect day.
Any advice for couples planning a wedding – Relax and enjoy it. We knew that we wanted to be married within 2 years of getting engaged so we started researching venues straight away. When we had that confirmed we then worked everything around that. Don’t rush into things as we found that things fell into place along the journey when the time was right. Having a good support system of friends and family also helps with the planning and preparations.
